They call Algonac the Venice of Michigan. Canals wind through the whole town. It sits where the St. Clair River opens into Lake St. Clair, on the largest delta in the Great Lakes. This is a boating town first and everything else second.
Where Algonac weddings happen
Algonac is not a big ballroom town. That is not what this town is. Weddings here lean waterfront, at restaurants and marinas on the river, and outdoors where freighters slide past on the water.
Algonac City Park has a half mile boardwalk right on the water that makes for a strong ceremony and photo backdrop. Algonac State Park sits just north of town, also on the river, with its own half mile of river frontage.
If your reception is at a venue up the river in Marine City, St. Clair, or Port Huron, Algonac still makes a good home base for the weekend. Your wedding should be where your vision fits, not where your zip code is.
What to know about an Algonac wedding
Boating town weddings run relaxed. Timelines bend. People show up ready to be outside and on the water. A DJ here has to read the room instead of forcing a schedule, which is how I work anyway.
If your ceremony is outside by the water, plan for wind. Your vows need to reach the back row, and that takes dedicated ceremony audio. The river is beautiful and it does not care about your timeline.
Your Algonac DJ
I am based in Port Huron, about 40 minutes up the river from Algonac. If you are getting married here and you want a night your people will reminisce about for years, check your date and let's talk. We will build the night around you and your vision, together.
