Anchor Point sits right on the St. Clair River, and the events happen in the TAPs Event Room. It is a comfortable midsize room that fits around 100 guests without feeling empty or cramped. The vibe is relaxed and fun, which fits the kind of receptions this place hosts. One night the theme was shorts and flip flops, and the room wore it well.

What lighting does here

One reception ran a taco bar, brought the entrance in hot to “Low Rider,” and kept cocktail hour on a Motown and country mix that had people singing at their tables before the dancing even started.

Dancing opened at 9 and the floor filled fast. The night closed with “Don’t Stop Believin’” for last call and a full room send off to “Sweet Caroline.” That is the arc this room wants: easy dinner, big finish.
